Dr. Damien J. Thomas

LPC, Professor, Mississippi College, Clinton, MS

Dr. Thomas has over 17 years of experience in the mental health & addictions field and has worked in various settings including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and juvenile justice. Dr. Thomas is President and Clinical Director of Resilience Counseling & Recovery Center, LLC in Flowood, MS where he treats an array of populations including children, adolescents, and adults with mental health and addictive disorders.

Dr. Thomas also serves as Associate Professor at Mississippi College in Clinton, MS, where he teaches graduate-level courses in counseling. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Mississippi, Board Qualified Supervisor (LPC-S), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), an Internationally Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICAADC) and a Board Certified TeleMental Health provider (BC-TMH).

Dr. Thomas is an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Mississippi Counseling Association (MCA), Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) and the Mississippi Association of Addiction Professionals (MAAP).

Tyra Butler

Matthews Aurora Funeral Solutions

Tyra Butler has over twenty-eight years of experience in the Marketing, Merchandising and brand strategy profession. Her expertise was developed during many years in the Apparel Division with the Sara Lee Corporation where she served on a variety of national marketing programs. Ms. Butler joined a Matthews Company, as a Merchandising Consultant in the death care industry, primarily with the company’s largest client in Paris, France.

She is currently the National Senior Director, Market Development in the Memorialization division. Her passion is around the nuances and changing deathcare market. Tyra has had the honor to work closely with some of the largest Black firms in the nation. Many of those firms have served to inspire, educate and provide an avenue to explore industry best practices. She is one of the founding four members of LOTUS -a black organization for deathcare professionals. Tyra is a Louisiana native currently residing in Houston, Texas. She spent 6 years in the Matthews Corporate office in Pittsburgh, PA.

As a part of her consistent commitment to leadership and her community, Ms. Butler served as an executive board member as secretary and as Chair of the Marketing and Development Committee of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh and she also explored her passion for the Arts as a board member and Marketing Chairperson of the August Wilson Center for African American Culture. She has served on several boards and chaired numerous philanthropic events, and served on several non-profit development committees including, Chairperson of an Exhibition of Fine Art Pittsburgh and Bringing Catlett to Carnegie Mellon University in 2005. Her New Orleans roots are a huge part of her life as a member of two krewes – Mystic Krewe of Phoenix and Krewe of Harmonia. She is a member of the historic national African American women’s philanthropic organization The Links Incorporated.

Robert Sulton

Robert Sulton

Brown, Ewing & Co, CPA, Finance Ministry Chairman

Robert Sulton is a native of Rolling Fork, MS, in the Mississippi Delta where he was a 1985 graduate of Rolling Fork High School. He is a 1990 graduate of Jackson State University with a Bachelor of Science and a degree in Accounting.

Robert is currently employed as an Audit Supervisor/Manager at Brown, Ewing & Co., Certified Public Accountants. He has 30+ years of Accounting and Auditing experience. He serves as the Finance Ministry Chairman at Greater Pearlie Grove M. B. Church and as the lead Facilitator of the Financial Literacy Ministry. He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

When he has time, he likes to write poetry. He currently resides in Jackson, MS.
